Baby & Toddler Sleep Training Course

Hi, I’m Courtney, the Baby Sleep Boss

I can write these things because I lived these things.

My first son threw me into a crash course on sleep.

  • I had no idea why he was crying.
  • I didn’t know if he was hungry
  • I couldn’t tell if he needed a nap, or if something was wrong.
  • I didn’t know how long he should be awake
  • I slowly felt more and more anxiety, and extreme exhaustion

And I spiraled.

It was the only job I had ever felt like I failed at.

I fell into postpartum anxiety and depression – so desperately wanting to be the wife and mom who had it all in order.

The clean house, the happy baby, the breast-feeding ease.

I was completely overwhelmed.

I knew something had to change, and so I dove into figuring it out.  The result of these changes was a happier, SLEEPING child, and an immediate change to my mental health and wellbeing as a mother.

I had to teach my son that he COULD sleep.

And that’s what I want for you and your child.

Are you on the sleep struggle bus too?

  • You wonder if they need something or just want you.
  • You don’t want to miss an actual problem and accidentally blame it on sleep.
  • You can easily find a reason for their sleeplessness – teething, a sleep regression, a growth spurt or illness.
  • You are worried about travel and vacation because they’re up all night.
  • Is this just the 4, 6, 8, 10….{insert any month} sleep regression?

Maybe you’ve tried co-sleeping because you don’t know what else to do but know it’s not safe sleep.

Here’s the thing.

Newborns, infants & toddlers can be taught to sleep through the night, with gentle, effective and science-backed strategies, when you are ready.

Tired Mom, short naps baby won't sleep
Is this the 8 month sleep regression?

“I highly recommend the Sleep Steps sleep training course. This program was educational, convenient and most importantly, effective.”

Megan H.

Member for her 4 month old & toddler

Imagine for a moment when…

  • Your baby or toddler doesn’t fight bedtime
  • Takes longer and more consistent naps
  • Settles at bedtime independently – and without tears
  • Sleeps through the night
  • Stops waking up early

It’s no secret that babies and children who are rested are just happier.

And so are you.

Your Wait Is Over.

Come for the Sleep, Stay for the Community.

Since 2015, Tiny Transitions and a diverse team of Certified Baby & Toddler Sleep Coaches here have worked with families, companies or in partnership with other practitioners to share evidence-based sleep education in the community, because everyone deserves the gift of sleep.

Today, we are one of the nation’s most experienced and diverse award winning sleep coaching agency, having coached over 10,000 families since our birth.

Through all of our work as sleep consultants, we saw gap in the market.

You either hired a private coach, 1:1, which isn’t financially feasible for everyone, or, you buy a glorified eBook with some videos for a few hundred bucks, then to actually speak to someone it’s a couple hundred bucks more.

That didn’t sit well with us.

Sleep is the foundation for which the house is built and without it, the walls could easily crumble down.

We designed the most jam-packed curriculum, into a single subscription program, so that you could get what you need to reset rest in your home, with no long-term commitment.

Effective, Affordable Sleep Training.

"Last night was a success. We started bedtime routine earlier, I put him down awake, he fussed a little and I rubbed his back briefly then left. No wakeups throughout the night! He slept 7:15 pm - 7:00 am...I actually had to wake him up in the morning."

Becca, Charlotte, NC

"The content was so helpful! As a new mom, the Sleep Steps Program helped me "fix" my napping issues and solve the "always in my arms" problem. I also found the Coaching Calls helpful--Erin and Courtney were so helpful and supportive on the coaching calls and having other mom's asking questions and relating to what I was going through, made me feel better knowing that I was not the only one having difficulties."

Sydney, Downingtown, PA

"I was sceptical at first to start sleep 'shaping' my 3 month old daughter, but I knew she needed help in order to have a healthy sleep, and I needed help teaching her that. I couldn't be happier we made the decision to sleep coach our baby girl that is now having a restful 12h night sleep, knows how to go back to sleep if she wakes up, and is having independent, healthy daily naps. Without any tears, the whole family is happier and sleeps better now!."

Bia – Philadelphia, PA

"Yes! Amazing - This is such a great program for parents."

Priya – Family Medicine Doctor

"I am so glad I asked for help. And I’m so happy with the care I received from Tiny Transitions. You don’t know how much you need sleep until you wake up one day and feel like yourself for the first time in a long time. Do yourself the best favor in the world. Reach out and ask for help. You deserve it!"

Adrienne, Hoboken, NJ

“As a family medicine physician, I first-hand see the struggles families have when bringing home their babies and how this impacts all aspects of their lives. I look forward to now having a resource and team to refer to as I have high confidence in this program’s ability to help families learn and adapt to their child’s sleep needs.

Tiny Transitions team and the Sleep Steps program is an invaluable resource. I highly recommend signing up for the Sleep Steps program!”

What to do when Taking Cara Babies doesn't work

The Bottom Line

Sleep Steps uses gentle, effective sleep coaching to transform your children into happy, well-rested kids.

You’ll actively restore the balance in your home and allow yourself to love parenting as much as you love your child. But it’s not going to be for everyone.

If you’re not willing to work to change bad habits, this will not be for you.

If you’re afraid of tears, this won’t be for you.  It’s impossible to do this without ANY tears.

If you’re dead-set on co-sleeping, this will not be for you. This program teaches independent sleep.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have a Question?

We get alot of questions about sleep training babies, and want to ensure we answer the most common ones right here, before you get started with Tiny Transitions or our Sleep Steps® Program.

What does sleep training a baby or toddler mean?

Sleep training is a set of strategies and techniques parents use to help their babies learn to fall asleep independently and stay asleep through the night. The ultimate goal is to ensure both the baby and the parents have a healthy, restful night’s sleep.

What age is the Sleep Steps program & sleep "training" appropriate?

We like to categorize sleep into 3 areas. Newborns are born with a blank slate, and how they ‘learn’ to fall asleep is how they believe they fall asleep as the skill grows and develops during their first 3 months of life. You can sleep shape a newborn, so you never need to sleep train them out of props later without them needing to cry.

Infants typically have learned how to fall asleep, in many cases, with the help of someone or something, that we refer to as a prop or crutch. At this age, we are ‘training’ them out of a bad habit, with slow, deliberate, and gentle coaching that, over time, builds the skill of independent sleep and minimizes the need for support or assistance.

Toddlers generally, at this point, know how to fall asleep but begin to have a certain preference or behavior they like to get to sleep. There is also an aspect of independence and empowerment. Here we help families reset expectations, build boundaries and confidence and teach these little ones they can sleep well and feel great.

How do I know this sleep training course will work for me?

Our goal for this program was to ensure it was set up to support a community of tired parents, with a level of customized support that isn’t available anywhere else in this capacity. If you follow along with the program and implement the changes, sleep will happen in your home. Plus, through coaching in the program, we can help you through sleep speed bumps as they come up. Our risk-free guarantee is also helpful, which allows you to apply the price of a month of Sleep Steps towards private sleep coaching with a member of our team, should you find you prefer more 1:1 accountability and coaching.

What age is the Sleep Steps program for?

This program is appropriate for children from birth through four years of age and teaches gentle, evidence-based sleep coaching strategies that balance age, intake, behavior and realities of life with littles.

Can I sleep train if my baby is still eating overnight?

YES!! There are many babies who do still need to eat at night, but can also have really good sleep habits too! I will show you how to achieve this balance, recognize it’s time to eat, and provide consolidated sleep that is so crucial to their long-term health (& yours).

Will there be tears during this process?

Change for anyone is hard and if anyone tells you that making changes and adjusting your child’s sleep habits could be done without tears, they are lying to you. (Sorry….setting the right expectations here.) My goal is to tell you to MINIMIZE tears because there are a lot of factors that play into how your child will change habits and behaviors, but I lay it all out there for you. If it was simple you wouldn’t be here.

Do you force a baby to "cry-it out" alone in their room?

No, “cry it out” is placing a baby in a safe space, allowing them to cry until they fall asleep on their own, without engagement from you or without you in the room. We don’t believe this approach is necessary.

What method of sleep training do you use?

There are many methods of sleep training, so let’s start there because everyone teaches SOME variation of these methods in their programs.

{remember, the method is only a fraction of the formula for success. We educate in the program on the whole picture, the why’s and the hows.}

  1. Cry It Out (CIO): This method involves putting your baby to bed and letting them cry until they fall asleep without intervention. We don’t teach this.

  2. Ferber method (or Check-Ins): Developed by Dr. Richard Ferber, this method is a gentler version of CIO. Parents gradually extend the time before going to their crying baby, offering brief comfort but not picking up or feeding them.

  3. Chair Method (or Sleep Lady Shuffle): The parent sits in a chair next to the baby’s crib and slowly moves the chair further away each night until they are out of the room. The idea is to provide a comforting presence while encouraging independent sleep.

  4. No Tears Method: This approach, advocated by Elizabeth Pantley and Dr. William Sears, involves soothing techniques that prevent crying. Parents might nurse or rock babies to sleep or offer a pacifier.

We take a more holistic look at things here because no child is one size fits all, and we explain in the program how to determine the best needs for your baby. Every child is unique, responding differently to various methods based on age, temperament, and developmental stage.

Rather than enforcing a one-size-fits-all method, we prioritize the individual child’s needs and responses, respecting their emotional wellbeing while gradually fostering independent sleep habits.

Is This Cry-It-Out Sleep Training?

No, “Cry it out” is placing a baby in a safe space, allowing them to cry until they fall asleep on their own, without engagement from you or without you in the room. We teach you about how to identify the best method to align with your personality and your family’s sleep goals.

Is it possible sleep training won't work for my child?

Yes, not all children respond to sleep training in the same way. There are many reasons why sleep training might not work, including a baby’s age, temperament, or any underlying medical conditions.

Additionally, inconsistent application of sleep training methods can also lead to poor results. If one method doesn’t work, it may be worth trying another, or addressing any other potential issues that may be disrupting your baby’s sleep with a healthcare provider.

What can I do to maximize the chances of successful sleep training?

Consistency is key. Show up to the calls, ask questions, and engage in the community. We want you to win and are here to coach you through it.

How is Sleep Steps different from other programs out there today?

There are many popular self-guided sleep coaching courses and eBooks available today. Two of the more popular ones we see here have a lack of support unless you pay for the next ‘level’ package. The problem, most people need COACHING. They have questions, their child is unique, and they are unsure. That’s where we are different. You have UNLIMITED access to hot seat Zoom calls we host every week at multiple times. You have access to chat threads as well, and our team of Sleep Coaches will get back to you and help you transform your sleep in a few days.

Can I book a private call during this if I want to?

Of Course! You will have the option to book a private call with me or the team, at an additional cost, if you would like some additional 1-on-1 support, but based on how I set up this program, with your success in mind, it should not be necessary. You have weekly access to live calls, where all of your specific questions are answered.
